Austin was born in Little Rock, Arkansas and had the distinct pleasure of going to Savannah College of Art and Design to acquire his BFA in Performing Arts. He started acting when he was 10 years old, when it became clear he was taking his "play-pretend" games far too seriously. His mother, who also doubles as his bestie, enrolled him in a 6-week summer intensive that was the highlight of every year from 2003-2010. He still keeps in touch with the friends, mentors, and collaborators he met there, and credits them with nurturing his love for the art form.
Austin attended Savannah College of Art and Design as an undergraduate and had the privilege to perform in 8 Main Stage shows over the course of his 4 years there. He was cast in his senior showcase, and shortly after began working at the Shakespeare Theater of New Jersey. Directly after graduating, he was given a scholarship to their Summer Professional Training Program as a member of a non-union, multi-state touring company. Soon after he was accepted into the Professional Training Company at The Actor's Theater of Louisville where he established crucial connections with playwrights, directors, and casting personnel that have been instrumental in launching his professional career.
